The International Heraldic Registry (IHR) was founded to monitor personal arms on an international level, specifically countries who currently do not possess official registries. The organization allows a person to display and record their heraldry in an easily accessible database. The registry separates inherited and newly designed arms from false coat of arms and family crests linked to a general surname. By publicly displaying heraldic arms, one can help to prevent others from bearing the same arms. To register a personal arms in the IHR complete an application form.
The IHR registers coat of arms linked to an individual. The registry is located on this website. This publication includes both a written, formal description and a visual interpretation. Please note that the visual interpretation is an artistic rendition of the arms, if any slight variations occur, the written text is the final authority. Although the IHR does extensive background research before entering a coat of arms into the registry, the IHR cannot prove or grant any legal rights to arms.
